This intensive 90-minute live workshop is designed for immigration law lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants who work with Spanish-language documents. Learn to create accurate translations of supporting documents (i.e. affidavits, birth/marriage/death certificates, letters, and news articles) that are accurate and easy to understand. Course Highlights: Key Spanish legal terminology for immigration documents Hands-on live translation practice Proven techniques for crafting translations that are accurate Take-home graded translation projects with personalized feedback Certificate of Completion awarded after successful submission of the projects Intermediate Spanish required | Price: $500 | Seats limited to 10 ✔ Training on the Most Common and Costly Translation Errors Participants learn how to: Avoid punctuation patterns that shift responsibility or create ambiguity Rewrite passive or unclear Spanish structures into clear, legally accurate English Prevent literal translations that damage credibility (e.g., “birth act”) Correct grammar that alters causation, agency, or fault Translate terms found in affidavits, letters of support, vital records, and police reports ✔ Immigration-Specific Content The workshop includes genre-specific guidance for: Affidavits and declarations Letters of hardship or support Vital records (birth, marriage, death certificates) Police and incident reports Participants learn how to tailor tone, structure, and terminology to the document’s legal purpose. ✔ Tools & Reference Materials Each participant receives a professional “Legal Translator’s Editing Checklist” ✔ Graded Take-Home Projects (3) After the session, attendees complete three, short practical assignments: Assignment 1: Translate a short affidavit with known ambiguity points Assignment 2: Translate a vital record + identify literal-translation pitfalls Assignment 3: Edit a flawed translation and justify corrections Participants receive written, individualized feedback that documents progress and identifies areas for continued development. ✔ Certificate of Completion Issued to each participant who attends and submits assignments, demonstrating proficiency in Spanish→English immigration translation fundamentals. Cancellation Policy
1. Registration & Payment All participants must complete registration and payment in full to secure their spot. Seats are limited to 10 participants to ensure personalized attention. Each participant must register and pay for their own seat. One registration cannot be shared, and multiple attendees may NOT join under a single booking. 2. Confirmation Once payment is received, participants will receive a confirmation email with the workshop date and time. One day prior to the session, participants will receive the Zoom/online access link. 3. Cancellation & Refunds / Transfers All sales are final. No refunds. Registrations may be transferred to another participant if requested at least 48 hours in advance. 4. Workshop Materials & Project Workshop materials, including a glossary and reference documents, will be provided during the live session. Participants will complete take-home graded translation projects. The certificate of completion will be issued upon successful submission and evaluation. 5. Certificate of Completion Certificates are awarded only after: Attendance of the live 90-minute workshop Submission of the graded take-home projects by the deadline 6. Technical Requirements.
